§ Mr. Gristasked the Secretary of State for Wales, on the assumption that the Welsh Assembly, as constituted in the Wales Bill, is operative in the parliamentary Session 1978–80, how many Written and Oral Questions he would expect to answer as compared with the average annual number of such Questions in the parliamentary Sessions 1976–77 and 1977–78.
§ Mr. John MorrisIn the current Session, and therefore on the basis of present responsibilities, Welsh Office Ministers have so far answered 839 parliamentary Questions. Had the Welsh Assembly been in existence during the Session, with the responsibilities set out in the Wales Act, I estimate, on the basis of an analysis of Questions for oral answer, that about half of these Questions would still have fallen to me.
