HC Deb 02 August 1978 vol 955 c461W
Mr. Shepherd

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what he expects will be the increase in average and peak traffic flows, for the south and northbound, on the A49 trunk road between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye subsequent to the commencement of rebuilding work on the M5 motorway in Worcestershire.

Mr. Horam

Experience during reconstruction of the M5 last year suggests that the amount of traffic diverting to the A49 south of Hereford will be small.

Mr. Shepherd

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects work to commence on the Callow Hill improvements to the A49 Hereford-Hungerford truck routes.

Mr. Horam

We expect to start work on the Callow Hill improvements on the A49 in November.
