§ Mr. HoramIn 1976 goods vehicles over three tons unladen weight represented 2.2 per cent. of all motor vehicles registered and 9.5 per cent. of all motor vehicles involved in fatal road accidents. Heavy goods vehicles travel a higher annual mileage than the average motor vehicle.
Approximately two in every L000 such goods vehicles are involved in a fatal accident each year.
