HC Deb 01 August 1978 vol 955 c292W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons have had eviction orders granted against them in Northern Ireland: and how many of the orders granted were actually executed in each of the last two years or financial years, in respect of Housing Executive property, and in respect of privately owned property.

Mr. Mason

, pursuant to the reply of his hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State [Official Report, 4th July 1978; Vol. 953, c. 166], gave the following information:

The information is not available in the form requested, but in the two years to 31st March 1978, 157 orders for possession were lodged with the Enforcement of Judgments Office, 108 in respect of private property and 49 in respect of property belonging to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive—30 for non-payment of rent, 19 for squatting. In many of these cases the dispute was resolved satisfactorily, but in 77 possession was obtained, 42 in respect of private property and 35 in respect of property belonging to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive—20 for non-payment of rent, 15 for squatting.
