HC Deb 01 August 1978 vol 955 cc315-6W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what assessment he has made of the number of unmodernised pre-war and post-war council houses in Alnwick district which would attract Exchequer assistance for improvement; and what allowance he plans to make for these needs in housing investment allocations for Alnwick district council.

Mr. Armstrong

It is for the district council itself as the primary housing authority to make such assessments, and I would therefore refer the hon. Member to it for detailed information. It will no doubt be including such information in its housing investment programme, and since rehabilitation continues to be one of the Government's housing priorities the cash allocations to be made later this year will reflect that policy.
