HC Deb 26 April 1978 vol 948 cc582-3W
44. Mr. Gorst

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if the final communique from the Belgrade Conference which made no reference to human rights, was concluded taking account of the fact that Anatoly Shcharansky, on 19th April, had been held incommunicado in Lefortovo Prison for 400 days.

Mr. Luard

As my right hon. Friend made clear to the House on 25th January, the Government were fully aware of Mr. Shcharansky's case and its implications for the Belgrade meeting. The background to the concluding document agreed at Belgrade was set out fully in Cmnd. 7126.
