§ Mr. David Howellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will supply a breakdown of all recorded offences concerned with vehicle excise licences during the most recent convenient 12-month period, listing the number of prosecutions, namely, for: failing to possess a vehicle excise licence, 421W failing to display a vehicle excise licence, making false application for a vehicle excise licence, stealing a vehicle excise licence, and other vehicle excise licence offences.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe information available on the number of fixed penalty notices issued for non-display of a valid vehicle excise licence and the numbers of prosecutions for offences relating to motor vehicle licences is to be found in Tables 4 and 8 of the publication "Offences relating to motor vehicles 1976". Figures of prosecutions for stealing a motor vehicle licence are not available.
