HC Deb 24 April 1978 vol 948 cc415-6W
38. Dr. Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will take steps to ensure that British Airways do not purchase 20 Boeing 737 airliners to replace their obsolescent Trident aircraft and that they purchase quieter aircraft with a high proportion of British-made components such as the A200 airbus even at the expense of a longer delay in delivery.

Mr. Dell

Aircraft noise is one of the considerations which will be taken into account in reaching a decision on British Airway's proposal for Trident replacement, which is in any case necessitated by the need to meet more stringent noise regulations.
