§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Minister for Overseas Development whether she will publish in the Official Report a detailed list of all loans and grants-in-aid, respectively, made to Cambodia (Kampuchea), indicating the dates the loan or grant was made, the repayments, if any, of principal, the rates of interest payable, the total sum repaid in interest and the dates on which the first default of interest or capital occurred in the case of each loan.
§ Mrs. Hart, pursuant to her reply [Official Report, 23rd March 1978; Vol. 946, c. 649], gave the following information:
United Kingdom/Cambodia Prek Thnot Dam loan 1969: £420,000.
Interest-free loan for the purchase of British goods and services required for the Prek Thnot power and irrigation project. 'The loan is for 25 years with a grace period of two years.
Disbursement of the loan commenced October 1969 and was completed in January 1972.
A total of £63,875 was repaid by Cambodia over the period October 1971 to September 1974, since when there have been no further repayments. The total outstanding for repayment therefore is £356,125—not £384,000 as stated in the interim reply.
A further £60,000 interest-free loan, the United Kingdom Khmer Republic Prek Thnot power and irrigation development project, was committed in 1974, but no disbursements have been made from this loan.
