HL Deb 13 April 1978 vol 390 cc865-6WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What information they have about the steps taken by local authorities to ensure that they are complying with the provisions of Section 71 of the Race Relations Act 1976.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

The Home Office, in conjunction with other Government Departments, has issued guidance on the Race Relations Act 1976 to local authorities, but it is for each local authority to decide how best to implement this section of the Act in its area. The Commission for Racial Equality has a statutory duty to keep the working of the Act under review.
