asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what estimate he has made of the acreage of derelict and waste land in Greater Manchester.

Mr. Freeson

The amount of derelict land in Greater Manchester according to the 1974 survey of derelict and despoiled land was 8,512 acres. Corresponding figures for waste land are not available but the estimated total of derelict and waste land for the partnership areas of Manchester and Salford is 1,220 acres.
