HC Deb 11 April 1978 vol 947 cc347-8W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what have been the annual sums paid by the Government by way of selective assistance under the Industry Act 1972 towards industrial development in the county of Gwynedd.

Mr. Cryer

In the period from August 1972 to 31st January 1978, offers of regional selective assistance totalling £1,100,000 were made under Section 7 of the Industry Act 1972 in respect of 37 projects in the county of Gwynedd. Payments have been made against these offers as follows:

for 1985 in the "Plan for Coal", in view of the decline in consumption by the Central Electricity Generating Board and the British Steel Corporation.

Mr. Eadie

No. In any event, it is not the case that consumption of coal by the Central Electricity Generating Board has declined.
