asked the Secretary of State for Defence, what are the two armoured regiments in the United Kingdom equipped with Chieftain tanks; where they are located; and what is the peace-time role of each.

The regiments are the United Kingdom Armoured Regiment, based in South-West District, and the Royal Armoured Corps Training Regiment, based in North-East District. The peacetime role of each is in support of the United Kingdom land forces and, in particular, the training organisation.
