§ 34. Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will take steps to discourage the practice of adding bright red lights to the rear of motor cars, in addition to the statutory two rear lights, in view of the fact that they give the continued and erroneous impression of braking.
§ Mr. HoramWe are strongly in favour of cars being fitted with rear fog lamps and we propose to make regulations which will require all new cars to be fitted with at least one. We accept, however, that such lamps must be properly installed and used if they are not to dazzle other road users. We propose accordingly to lay down requirements on the installation of such lamps and to permit their use only in fog or falling snow.
