Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will give an assurance that he will not sanction any major capital expenditure on the Wind-scale nuclear fuel plant until the report of the inquiry now in progress at White-haven has been published, debated in the House of Commons and a decision thereon arrived at.

Mr. Eadie:

We have an assurance from BNFL that no major capital expenditure on the oxide reprocessing plant which is the subject of the planning inquiry will be made beforea decision has been taken by the Government following the report from the inspector.
