Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service why he will not discuss with all concerned the introduction of a system of free and non-taxable travel to and from their homes and their places of employment for all public servants together with the support of their homes and the financial cost of upkeep.

Mr. Charles R. Morris:

I can answer only in respect of the Civil Service. Such benefits cannot be justified by comparison with the general practice in commerce and industry.
