HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 cc661-2W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the two former Prime Ministers are supplied with cars from the pool; and on the basis of the Government's publication of the gross and fixed worth to these two Members of Parliament's use of these cars he will state what the worth of cars to Ministers is and their known Government salaries, assuming that the recipients are married with no child allowances.

The answer to the first part of my hon. Friend's ques- in the West Midlands a total of 12 Inland Revenue staff is employed on average more than one day each week visiting employers on PAYE matters, which include not only collecting overdue PAYE monies but also giving advice on the operation of PAYE and collecting overdue PAYE returns.
