§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current waiting list of urgent cases for admission to residential care for the mentally handicapped in the county of Surrey; what it was five years ago; and what action he proposes to take to deal with this situation.
§ Mr. Moyle:139 adults and 13 children are on Surrey County Council's waiting list. Comparable figures for 1972 are not available. I am satisfied that the local authority will continue to do its best to make suitable provision for mentally handicapped people having regard to competing claims on its limited resources.
