Mr. Pavitt

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the tax receivable in 1977–78 from the profits made by commercial deputising agencies providing emergency and night call services to general medical practitioners.

Mr. Robert Sheldon:

I regret that no estimate can be made. Inland Revenue analyses are based, broadly speaking, on the Minimum List Headings within the Standard Industrial Classification (1968 Revision) and it is not possible to provide a more detailed breakdown.
