HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 c690W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many housing units in Great Britain available for Service families have been unoccupied for at least six months; what steps are being taken to reduce the excess defence housing stock; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Gilbert:

The latest available figures show that some 4,500 married quarters available for Service families in Great Britain have been vacant for over six months. As soon as married quarters are identified as surplus to defence requirements they are passed to the Property Services Agency for disposal. We are continuing to press ahead with these disposals as quickly as possible, as I told the House on 16th June 1977.—[Vol. 933, c. 668.]
