§ Mr. Lomasasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will ensure that where consultative committees in hospitals are set up they will include nursing staff and ancillary workers.
§ Mr. MoyleBoth my Department and the General Whitley Council for the NHS have recommended that the Staff Side of Joint Staff Consultative Committees should be representative of the different groups of staff employed, and in all hospitals these would include nursing staff and ancillary workers. The only stipulation is that the staff representatives should be members of nationally recognised staff organisations.
