§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for Defence what action is being taken to improve the stability of the Fox armoured car.
§ Mr. Robert C. Brown:The design of any turreted armoured car means that the vehicle has a comparatively high centre of gravity: the stability of Fox is within the normal range for vehicles of this type. Investigations into Fox accidents have indicated that in most cases the principal cause was the inexperience of the driver with this particular vehicle and its handling characteristics, rather than any inherent lack of stability. The training of drivers has been expanded to give increased emphasis to the handling characteristics of Fox.
