HC Deb 26 October 1977 vol 936 cc889-90W
Mr. Loyden

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many new jobs have been created in the United Kingdom by the extension of Ford United Kingdom activities

Mr. Alan Williams:

I have been asked to reply.

Over the past 25 years employment in Ford's United Kingdom facilities has risen from 20,500 to over 72,00 in 1977 including more than 14,000 at Halewood on Merseyside. The new engine plant at Bridgend in South Wales is expected to provide 2,500 new jobs there by 1980.
