asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many successful prosecutions have been made in England and Wales for offences by pedal cyclists for failure to comply with lighting regulations whilst cycling at night on the public highway.

In England and Wales in 1976, 2,463 persons were found guilty of offences of failing to comply with lighting regulations whilst cycling at night on the public highway.
