§ Mr. Shersbyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his policy for ensuring that proper inspection of municipal housing schemes is carried out by local authorities; and if he will take steps to ensure that loan sanction is granted only where regular building control and inspection takes place at regular intervals.
§ Mr. Armstrong:The enforcement of building regulations for municipal hous- 858W ing is the responsibility of the local authority for that area. Current procedures for loan sanction and subsidy approval already require an authority to certify that the dwellings to be built will comply with the building regulations.
