Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what action he proposes to take on that part of the Price Commission's Report on Coffee, in which attention is drawn to the increase in royalties remitted by two companies to their foreign parent companies, which, as a percentage of sales, increased in the period 1974 to 1976 from 1.5 per cent. to 2.4 per cent. and in cash terms from £1.6 million to £4.3 million.

Mr. Maclennan:

Royalties taken in the normal course of business by foreign owned companies from their Unit Kingdom subsidiaries are outside Government control.
