Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will review the position of the Kilmarnock and Loudoun industrial area, in view of the present and anticipated level of unemployment, and accord it special development area status.

Mr. Alan Williams:

The Government have no plans for further changes in the scheduling of assisted areas at present, but my right hon. Friend the Secretry of State for Scotland and I will keep the needs of the area under continuing review.
