§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of the much lower take-up of mobility allowance by children than expected, he 112W will now seek to amend the Social Security Act 1975 to reduce the age limit to 2 years, the same as for the attendance allowance and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThe possibility of extending the scope of mobility allowance to children aged 2 to 5 is one of the many competing claims for inclusion which we will consider when resources permit. We keep the scheme under constant review and will build upon what has already been achieved as soon as we can.
§ Mrs. Bainasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why it is not possible for mobility allowance to be payable by Girocheque as is the practice with unemployment and supplementary benefits; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisI refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Edinburgh, North (Mr. Fletcher) on 22nd November.—[Vol. 939, c. 1294.]
