§ Mr. Churchillasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will take immediate steps to ensure that beds, showering facilities and adequate heating are provided for Her Majesty's Forces engaged in fire duties at the Royal Army Medical Corps training centre in King's Road, Old Trafford, Manchester.

§ Mr. MulleyConditions at the RAMC training centre at Old Trafford are being improved. The central heating is now in operation and will be supplemented by other heating; each man has a camp bed; and the possibility of installing portable showers is under examination.
§ Mr. Churchillasked the Secretary of State for Defence if, in view of the cold, uncomfortable accommodation, unequipped with proper washing or showering facilities, currently provided for members of Her Majesty's Forces on fire duty at the Royal Army Medical Corps Training Centre at King's Road, Old Trafford, Manchester, he will authorise the use by the forces of the excellent, heated, well equipped accommodation at the local fire station while it remains unoccupied by the firemen.
§ Mr. MulleyNo. Improvements are being made as indicated in the answer to another Question from the hon. Member today. Nevertheless, if accommodation offering better facilities can be found, we shall consider using it, but it is not Her Majesty's Government's policy to use fire stations.
