§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of abuse of the procedures, particularly at night, he will pay a personal visit of inspection to immigration facilities at Dover; and what action can be taken to deal with these abuses.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI do not accept that there is widespread abuse of immigration control procedures at night or at any other time. I have no immediate plans to visit the immigration offices at Dover. I am satisfied that the staff there are vigilant, as ever, to detect abuses. If my hon. Friend has any information of abuses of the controls which have escaped the attention of my staff, I should be glad to receive it.
