HC Deb 24 November 1977 vol 939 c836W
Mr. Banks

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he proposes to take to ensure that the situation of the pigmeat industry in the United Kingdom is fully considered at the next meeting of EEC Ministers on 12th and 13th December.

Mr. John Silkin

I have lost no opportunity in the past to urge upon both the Commission and the Council of Ministers the need for action to ease the pressure on the United Kingdom pigmeat sector arising from the way that monetary conpensatory amounts are calculated. I shall be raising the matter again when next the Council meets on 12th-13th December.
