HC Deb 24 November 1977 vol 939 cc875-6W
Mr. Dykes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish a list of all bodies to which he appoints members other than civil servants, distinguishing between full-time and part-time, salaried, fee-paid and unpaid appointments, indicating for each category of appointment the number of such appointees.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The information is as follows:

1960 (Cmnd. 1213) on whether there were grounds for reintroducing any form of corporal punishment as a judicial penalty. The Council unanimously concluded, on practical and other grounds, that the penalty should not be reintroduced for any categories of offences or offenders. That conclusion has been accepted by successive Governments and no further formal inquiry has been found necessary.
