HC Deb 23 November 1977 vol 939 c749W
Mr. Adley

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what he estimates to be the net tax revenue paid by overseas visitors to Great Britain for the latest 12-month period for which figures are available.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

Only the broadest of estimates is possible. In 1976, indirect taxes on expenditure by overseas visitors are thought to have been somewhere about £200 million.
