asked the Attorney-General how many references to the Court of Justice of the European Communities asking for preliminary rulings on the interpretation of Community law have been made by United Kingdom courts since the United Kingdom became a member of the EEC.

Since the United Kingdom became a member of the European Communities there have been seven occasions when United Kingdom courts or tribunals have referred questions to the Court of Justice of the Communities for a preliminary ruling.
