HC Deb 16 November 1977 vol 939 c245W
Mr. Cant

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he hopes to be able to implement the provisions in Schedule 10 to the Community Land Act to help simplify the machinery to settle small claims.

Mr. Freeson

The Lands Tribunal (Amendment) Rules 1977, which enable the Tribunal, with the consent of the claimant in compensation cases, to determine applications by written representation, will come into effect on 12th December 1977. These new procedures are particularly relevant to simple and straightforward cases. By avoiding the need for attendance of the parties, their advisers and witnesses they should help reduce costs. Such proceedings should also be capable of being dealt with by the Tribunal speedily.
