HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 c268W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish a detailed list in theOfficial Reportgiving the number of persons in his Department who were, on 1st November 1977, in receipt of salaries of £135 or more per week; how long they have received such salaries; and what were their designations or gradings.

Mr. Robert Sheldon:

As at 1st October 1977, the latest date for which information is available, there were 189 staff in the Treasury whose basic pay and other pensionable emoluments totalled £135 a week or more. Of the staff concerned, 139 are in the Administration Group and the remainder are spread over a number of other occupational groups. Information on the length of time staff have received such salaries cannot be provided without disproportionate expenditure of time and resources.
