HC Deb 11 November 1977 vol 938 c286W
Mr. Peter Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in theOfficial Reportmany part-time workers who are registered as unemployed are drawing unemployment benefit. giving the figures separately for men and women.

Mr. Orme:

I regret that this information is not available. Unemployment benefit is not normally payable for any day on which a person works, however, nor is it payable for a single day of unemployment occurring within a period of six consecutive days. Moreover, once it has been established that a person does not ordinarily work on every day of the week, unemployment benefit is not usually payable for any day falling within a week in which the person has been employed to the full extent which is normal in his case.
