HC Deb 10 November 1977 vol 938 cc243-4W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that medical students studying at the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, who are resident in England and Wales can obtain grants for their studies while Scottish students are denied this right ; and if he will take steps to provide grants for Scottish students in this position.

Mr. Millan:

I am aware that some local education authorities in England and Wales may be prepared to exercise their discretionary powers to award grants tenable at the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin. My Department at present does not make awards tenable at this college, but this policy is under review.
