asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a public broadcast on radio and television to explain to the British people the implications of British membership of the EEC and the consequences of withdrawal.

Mr. Judd:

My right hon. Friend sees no necessity to do this at present.

40. Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what attitude he has taken in discussion with his EEC colleagues in relation to the possible membership of Spain in the EEC.

Mr. Judd:

The Government have made clear that we warmly welcome the Spanish application.
