asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proportion of houses in England were built before 1900, 1914 and 1939, respectively.

Statistics in the form requested by the hon. Member are not readily available but I give below data extracted from the more comprehensive information contained in issue 21 of Housing and Construction Statistics, a copy of which is in the Library.

whether the Manchester Ship Canal benefits from the Treaty of Rome as an inland waterway.
