19. Mr. Durant

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the talks between the United Kingdom and Guatemala on the future of Belize.

Mr. Rowlands:

We are persisting in our efforts to obtain a negotiated settlement acceptable to Belize and Guatemala. We remain in touch with Guatemala to see if we can find a basis for the next round of negotiations.
