§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has received an approach from the council in Christ-church, Dorset, for sanction to pay compensation to former prefab dwellers in Melbourne Road and Darwin Avenue, Christchurch; when he first received this approach; and when he intends to answer the inquiry.
§ Mr. Guy BarnettA request for sanction under Section 161 of the Local Government Act 1972 was received on 18th January 1977. The circumstances of this case touch on an important point of principle which has only recently been resolved. A reply to the council will be issued shortly.
