§ 26. Mr. Silvesterasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps she proposes to take to arrest the decline in the standards achieved by entrants for the GCE examinations.
Mrs. ShirleyWilliams: It is not possible to say whether GCE standards altered or whether teaching methods improved between 1968 and 1973. On the question of improving standards, proposals will be made in the consultative document shortly to be published.
