HC Deb 16 May 1977 vol 932 c49W
Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proposals he has for providing transport for district nurses; if they are expected to provide their own cars; and, if so, what remuneration is available.

Mr. Deakins

If a community nurse needs to use a car to carry out her duties her employing authority either allocates an official vehicle to her or pays mileage allowances at rates negotiated in the General Whitley Council for official use of her own car. It may also make a loan to enable her to purchase her own car. I am not aware of any need for additional or different arrangements.
