The estimated number of discharges and deaths in 1974 in non-psychiatric hospitals for alcoholism and alcoholic psychosis in the Mersey region was 370 (14.8 per 100,000 population). The England figure was 4,060 (8.7 per 100,000 population). 1975 and 1976 figures are not yet available.
