HC Deb 16 May 1977 vol 932 cc54-5W
Mr. Christopher Price

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many dentists per 1,000 of the population there are in the London borough of Lewisham; and how this figure compares with the national average.

Mr. Moyle

Dentist-population ratios are not available for areas, such as the London borough of Lewisham which are smaller than those of area health authorities. On 30th September 1976 the number of dentists practising in the General Dental Services in England was 0…25 per 1,000 population.

Expenditure £000 Percentage of total revenue expenditure on Hospital services
Domestic services (Domestic and Cleaning services) 197,561 7.78
Housekeeping services (Catering Department, Laundry services, Linen services) 262,465 10.35
Ancillary services (Pottering, Transport services, Estate Management, Miscellaneous services and expenses) 403,918 15.91

I regret that expenditure on home warden services, which is included in the total for ancillary services above, is not separately identifiable in the accounts.
