§ Mr. Jesselasked the Secretary of State for Trade, following the petition from Whitton residents, what action he intends to take to reduce aircraft noise in Whitton.
§ Mr. Clinton DavisWe are continuing with the existing noise abatement measures but I do not intend to make any alteration to the Mole Valley routes this summer. Such alterations only involve shifting aircraft noise from one place to another. Later in the summer I shall let those concerned have our analysis of the proposals that have been put to us. I would stress, however, that the only real hope for a reduction in aircraft noise lies in the progressive introduction of quieter aircraft.
