§ 32. Mr. John H. Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will now take steps in conjunction with the EEC to put anti-dumping duties on sets of ratchets, as recently drawn to this attention by hand-tool manufacturers, and make efforts to speed up the process of preventing hardship on British and other EEC manufacturers.
§ Mr. MeacherI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the application concerning socket sets. A team from our Anti-Dumping Unit is now in Japan, acquiring evidence on which a final decision can be made. I have considered very carefully the request for a provisional charge to duty but I have concluded that it would not be appropriate. So far as I am aware, there is no wider Community interest in this problem.
