Mr. Jim Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will list the countries with which the EEC has negotiated an MFA agreement; and if he will list the countries with which the EEC are currently negotiating or shortly to negatiate MFA agreements.

Mr. Meacher

, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6th May 1977], gave the following information:

The EEC has negotiated MFA bilateral restraint agreements with Pakistan, India, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Colombia, Brazil, Egypt, Yugoslavia, Romania and Thailand. The most recent, with Thailand, was initialled on 3rd May. The EEC also plans to negotiate agreements with Hungary, Poland and Mexico later this year.
