HC Deb 03 May 1977 vol 931 cc108-9W
Mr. Cowans

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many of the larger firms which are required to give the Price Commission regular information necessary for monitoring their compliance with the Price Code are in fact supplying this information; and how frequently this information is required to be supplied.

Mr. John Fraser

Persons specified in Article 4 of the Counter-Inflation (Prices and Charges) (Information) Order 1976 are required under Article 5 of that order to furnish to the Price Commission returns on an approximately quarterly basis. All the firms covered by this requirement have been supplying the necessary information.

Mr. Cowans

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection how many criminal prosecutions have resulted from breaches of an order or notice issued under Section 6 of the Counter-Inflation Act 1973, annually from the date of its inception to the latest available date.

Mr. John Fraser

I am advised that there have been none.

Mr. Cowans

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection (1) if he will list the firms which have had orders and notices under Section 6 of the Counter-Inflation Act 1973 issued against them;

(2) how many orders or notices have been issued under Section 6 of the Counter-Inflation Act 1973 to firms found to be in breach of the code of the Price Commission.

Mr. John Fraser

These are questions for the Price Commission.
